Sanitation & Disinfection in the Beauty Industry

It looks like spas and salons will be in "phase 3" of reopening for Los Angeles, so no word yet as to when that will officially be.  I just wanted to take a moment to reassure you that your health has always been a high priority to me.  I've always sanitized and disinfected my space and will update my procedures in any way that is suggested, recommended, and of course required.  

In the meantime, I want you to know how seriously I am taking this situation and have gotten official certification regarding disinfection.  Barbicide is an EPA registered disinfectant that I have always used in my business.  It is considered bactericidal, virucidal, and fungicidal.  I use it on my equipment and surfaces around the spa.  

Also, I just want you to understand a little more about your licensed beauty professionals in general.  We know sanitation and disinfection.  Much of our time spent in school was focused around treating all clients and performing all services using "Universal Precautions" which basically means we treat everything like it might be infected. We sanitize and disinfect our tools and surfaces like lives depend on it, because we understand that they do.  When you think about your favorite hair stylist, nail technician, or esthetician's skills you should know we didn't learn our great techniques in school, that came later.  School was about the basics, general skills, simple procedures, and disinfection...just the stuff we needed to pass state board.  Everything else you love about your experience from getting that perfect color to that relaxing massage, that came from us taking the time to master our profession through continuing education and lots of practice.  

When it is deemed safe for us to open up our shops again please understand that we always have and always will take your safety seriously, it's part of our job...and we wouldn't do our job if we didn't love it.
