3 Reasons you need a facial oil

Sorella Apothecary has an amazing face oil called Facial Nectar that is good for all skin types. Adding a facial oil to your skin care habit is a simple way to help keep your skin healthy. Facial Nectar is a special blend of oils that have moisturizing and antioxidant properties.

  1. Cleanse: Apply a few drops and massage gently over your face, remove with facial sponge* or makeup eraser*, or a warm wash cloth. Oil is drawn to oil, so by using oil to cleanse you are removing excess sebum (oil) from your skin, lifting it out to clean pores. It also works to breakdown makeup and other products that are on your skin's surface. If the feel of oil on your skin is not your favorite, try cleansing and then following up with a second (gel based) cleanser.

  2. Moisturize (and reduce wrinkles). As we age our skin becomes more dry and when it's dry wrinkles are more noticeable. Facial Nectar is a blend of beneficial oils that is high in antioxidants which leaves your skin both looking and feeling healthy.

  3. Protect: Your skin is already using oil as part of your body's natural barrier function, basically it's keeping your moisture/water in (so you don't shrivel up like a raisin) while it's protecting you from things like harmful microbes and other potential irritants.

To moisturize and protect your skin, you can use Facial Nectar as a serum before moisturizer, mix a couple drops into your favorite moisturizer (Daily Greens is my favorite), or use it as a final step to lock everything in before you apply SPF and makeup.

Why Facial Nectar? Because (molecular) size matters. Not all oils are going to work for your face (please don't go rubbing your face with coconut oil, it'll most likely just clog your pores), get a blend of oils that has been formulated to benefit your skin.

Key ingredients of Sorella Apothecary's Facial Nectar (and why they're good for you & your skin):

Jojoba Oil A rich source of fatty acids that moisturizes while balancing natural oil levels. This oil is closest in molecular size to what your body is already producing which makes it good for all skin types. Even oily or acneic skin can benefit because it may actually help control oil production.

Rice Bran Oil High concentrations of vitamin E and antioxidants nourish and moisturize with quick absorption.

Crambe Seed Oil This ultra-light moisturizing oil has a strong concentration of omega fatty acids that renew the lipid layers of the skin.

Rosehip Oil Extracted from seeds of a rose bush in South America, this ancient remedy has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant, hydrating and tightening properties.

Rosemary Leaf Extract This all-around amazing extract is a powerful antioxidant that provides an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and clarifying boost.

Citrus Fruit Oil Fresh squeezed antioxidants and vitamin C brighten the skin.

Facial Nectar is a great addition to your current skin care routine but you also need to take care of your body. Hydrated skin is healthy (and happy) skin so be sure that you are drinking plenty of water. Feed your skin by including foods that are high in Omega 3s, antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables, and foods that have vitamins A, C, and E.
